Robert Half is on the look-out for an organized individual with accounting chops to join a growing organization in the long-term contract / temporary role of Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Financial Statements, and Budgets. Based in the Beltsville, Maryland region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.What you get to do every day- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed- Participate in various department-wide initiatives- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP- Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules- Partake in annual closing processes- Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
